Once you have a website designed, that "design" must be published and available over the internet for visitors to view. The files must be saved on a web server and that's called web hosting. A web server is a specialized computer. It's connected to the internet 24/7, is monitored and backed up regularly, and is capable of running programs specifically for websites. Most website owners rent space on commercial web hosting servers.

One other crucial element to your website is your domain name. That's the unique name that identifies your site, like "stadiastudio.com". Websites are assigned numeric addesses called IP Addressess, like 134.54.65.781, but since that would be impossible for someone to easily remember, we use domain names instead. Domain names are kept track of by an organization to ensure no one can have a duplicate name, and website owners reserve domain names for a period of one or more years.

Once you have a domain name and web hosting, you can publish your new website and create email addresses for yourself and whomever you wish. Most hosting plans include the ability to set up hundreds of email addresses, like "michael@stadiastudio.com", as well as auto responders and email forwarding.
