Once your Twitter account has been up and running for a while, you'll start to accumulate quite a few accounts that you're following. It quickly becomes unmanageable to simply look at your timeline to see interesting tweets.

Like most other social networks, Twitter is rolling a series of updates designed to provide a better interface, as well as enhanced functionality.

One of the techniques that many businesses will use to create content is to "curate" it. This is when you provide your readers with an assortment of links to other sites or resources, typically with your own opinions or observations inserted.

We're often asked by our business clients which social network should they use. Certainly, most businesses should have a presence on almost all social media platforms in order to reach the broadest possible audience, but surely one is better than others for business, right? We'll review the top networks and how they can be used for business and perhaps we'll find an answer to that question.

Twitter is not your normal website. There are no ad spaces. There is no way to pay for clicks or banner ads. Businesses who use their status updates to blatantly advertise will end up with zero followers and no audience for their messages. How, then, should a business use Twitter?

Flickr, for instance, is very particular about keeping the site focused on individuals and not businesses. Facebook and Google+ both have completely different account types for businesses. Make sure you're following the 'rules' to avoid future issues.

Easy? Probably not. Worth it? Absolutely.

Having a great profile and outstanding posts and content won't help you if you don't have any connections. Look for friends and colleagues and other interesting people to connect with.
