Meta Tags
Keep your targeted keyword list under 200 characters including commas and spaces.
Most search engines stop scanning meta tags after 200 characters.
Always use Image ALT and TITLE tags.
The ALT tag is text that is displayed in the event that your image cannot load and display for some reason. The TITLE tag is text that is displayed when someone mouses over your image. Both tags should be completed for usability, but more importantly, these represent excellent opportunities for you to use more of your keywords for the page the image appears on.
Keep Keywords and Description tags under 200 characters.
Most search engines stop reading Meta Tags after 200 characters, including spaces and puncuation. In order to be assured that your entire tag is indexed, keep it under 200 characters long.
Give every page of your site a unique Description.
One of your site Meta Tags is "Description." This should be a sentence or two describing your site or page. Every page needs to have a unique description that uses keywords specific to that page.
Re-evaluate your targeted keywords regularly.
Businesses change. Products and Services change. Markets, demographics and competition change. You should take a look at your keywords at least twice a year and ensure that you are still targeting the best words and phrases.
Make sure every page of your website has a unique Page Title.
Search Engines may not index pages that have the same title. Additionally, unique titles present opportunities to use your keywords in additional ways.
